She stars in a hit Nickelodeon television show and just kicked off a multi-city music tour this week.

iCarly star, Jennette McCurdy, performed for about 30 minutes Wednesday evening in front of hundreds of fans at Stoneridge mall.

Dublin resident Janine Thalblum took her seven and eight year old sons to the performance and said they were very excited to meet her.

A fan of the iCarly show, seven year old Jon said, "It's a good thing we weren't wearing stripes!" The character McCurdy plays in the show, Sam, is not a fan of stripes.

McCurdy's tour is called "Generation Love for St. Jude" and following her performance, she signed autographs.

The tour is named for the singer's new single of the same name.

Fans who attended could purchase a charity CD package for a $10 donation with all proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The charity CD package included an 8x10 photo and two songs— "Generation Love" and "Put Your Arms Around Someone", as well as an autograph.

"They both enjoyed her performance and said they couldn't wait to hear her CD in the car on the way home," said Thalblum.

She added: "We did talk about the fact that the proceeds went to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and the importance of giving to others. I would say that was the big takeaway from the event."

Organizers say the event raised thousands of dollars for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Miranda Cosgrove Rewards Students Who Fight Bullying

Photo: the Salt lake Tribune
Miranda Cosgrove, the 17-year-old star of the popular Nickelodeon TV show "iCarly," showed up at Crescent Elementary School to meet with more than 90 fourth-graders who had won a local radio station contest that revolved around bullying.

"It’s a really great cause," Cosgrove told media after the event. She attended school until the fifth grade, she said, and had experienced bullying at school.
The 93 fourth-graders won a competition sponsored by radio station 97.1 ZHT that rewarded the grade-level and school that had entered the most anti-bullying pledges on the radio station’s Web site. The prize, which Principal Debbie Shumard learned about Friday, was that the fourth-graders at her school would take a break from studying state history to receive a visit from Cosgrove

Watch How Selena Gomez Does a Perfect Reese Witherspoon Impression!

Selena Gomez: "The negativity gets to me - I think that's why I try to reach out to my fans because I understand it."

Selena Gomez's new hit single, 'Who Says,' is an anthem meant to amp up your self-esteem, and what could make a teen girl feel better about herself than getting a rave from one of your idols? That's what happened to Selena at an Oscar party last month when she ran into Reese Witherspoon."I about had a heart attack, she's amazing," she told me. "So I walked up to her and was a total goober and I was like, 'Can I have a picture with you?' And she was like" -- in a spot on Reese impression -- "'Of course! Oh my goodness, If your song 'Naturally,' if I hear that one more time ... My daughter loves it!'"Read more>>

Miley Cyrus Slams Rebecca Black For Gaining Fame Through Youtube

Miley Cyrus is not a Rebecca Black fan. In a recent interview with Australia's Daily Telegraph, the 18-year-old slammed Black for becoming famous overnight for her Youtube music video ‘Friday.’

"It should be harder to be an artist. You shouldn't just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour,” said Cyrus, who shot to fame on the Disney show ‘Hannah Montana.’

Although ‘Friday’ gained attention for all the wrong reasons – the video has sparked numerous parodies and jokes, and recently beat Justin Bieber for the most dislikes for a Youtube video with more than 1.2 million thumbs down – Black is pushing her career forward with a follow up single called ‘LOL.’ The 13-year-old is apparently learning to ignore all the criticism that came with ‘Friday.’ She recently admitted she was hurt by all the negative comments.

"Those hurtful comments really shocked me," she told Good Morning America earlier this month. “At times, it feels like I'm being cyberbullied."

Black may not have Cyrus as a fan, but she has received support from other celebrities including Lady Gaga, Simon Cowell and Chris Brown.

What do you On The Teen Beat Readers think of Rebecca Black's video?

Rockin' With Roshon Fegan from Shake It Up! Part 1 Of Our Exclusive Interview!

By Anne M. Raso

Photo: Courtesy of Disney Channel
We recently met up with Shake It Up's Roshon Fegan at New York's Essex House Hotel restaurant Osage (he was in town for the Disney Channel Upfront and a few other publicity events). We got a kick out of his fresh approach to being an actor and his very funny dad Roy who swears that he is not a "Hollywood dad-ager" but serves as his cute son's acting coach! Lucky Roshon is 19 so he doe not have to get the home-schooling that the other kids on the set have to get--that give him a little mote time to study his lines and to have fun! In Part 1 of our exclusive interview, we got him to 'fess up about the famous giant meatball episode of Shake It Up and his "Be You" movement and his official jewelry to promote this movement of individuality. Plus, this cutie gave us a little info about his "I Am" video, which has not yet premiered on his You Tube channel.

Q: You have the video for your single "I Am" about to come out. Where can you download the song?
Roshon: It's on all the sites that sell music--including iTunes, emusic.com and amazon.com--and it came out about a month ago. We will be premiering the video soon on my You Tube channel on my web series that I have...
Q: I know you were in Camp Rock 2--any plans for Camp Rock in the works?
Roshon: I am not sure. They (the Disney Channel) did High School Musical 3 and so I am hoping they will do a Part 3 of the Camp Rock franchise. It would be amazing.
Q: With Shake It Up, the first season is in the can and they renewed it. I hear it is the most popular show on Disney judging from a press release I recently read. I assume you are off now after completing a full first season of Shake It Up.
Roshon: I have till May till I have to go back. Disney actually picked up 21 more episodes the first week of shooting--that's how much they love the show! It was very popular with the Disney company right away!
Q: I can understand that. My favorite episode was the giant meatball one but you probably hear that all the time.
Roshon: Yeah! And it is funny!
Q: Bella told me that the meatball was pretty much raw--they only cooked the outside.
Roshon: Yeah, it was pretty gross! That is why I wasn't eating much of it--if you take a good look (at the actual episode), I didn't eat too much of it. (Laughs.)
Q: They wanted it to look all clumpy apparently--especially when Bella throws the clumps into a guy's hoodie in the restaurant. (Laughs.) Plus she said it was at least 10 pounds!
Roshon: I don't think there was a way to cook it all the way because it was SO MUCH meat! They would have had to leave it in the oven forever.
Q: I thought they could make a big meatball out of Styrofoam or something as a prop! LOL! Now, on a more serious note, can you tell me about your charity work?
Roshon:  Well, I took a quote out of my song "I Am"--and that is "Be You" and I am starting a movement based around that. I say that at the end of the song...almost like a "tag." I want it to be a symbol of awareness that itIs easy for kids to be themselves and everyone is unique! I made a prototype of a ring--I am wearing it right now--that is a big "U" inside a "B." When they see this symbol, they'll know it's me and what it's standing for. I also have a chain that says "I Am." So I am making this merchandise for the fans and for any person who just wants to support this movement of being themselves! Everyone can learn and be a part of it.

Q: On your website, can they buy this jewelry?
Roshon: Well, the website is in the process of being designed but the jewelry is going to be on there. There is going to be a lot more pieces coming up than just rings and chains. We are going to have all kinds of stuff like shirts and other clothing. The song is about me but I made it to inspire others to do the same as me.
Q: I wanted to say that your other video, "Anything Is Possible," is really cool and it sort of promotes the same "be you" message.
Roshon: I did that video for Black History Month and that is why you see all the names of famous black leaders like Rosa Parks on the video. I got to do the choreography for that--it was a quick shoot done in one day and it has all the cool effects like all the names that you mentioned showing up. It was fun to be a part of that and to celebrate Black History Month.
Q: Where is the "I Am" video being shot?
Roshon: It was just done with a green screen behind me in a studio and we had all sorts of set-ups. It is just me just kind of going through things that I do (in everyday life). I do not want to give too much away and ruin it for when everyone finally gets to see it. But it was a fun shoot and a whole bunch of friends came out to support me. About half the people in the video are my friends! (Laughs.) The other people that you see in the video are random people I found by twittering to "come on down" to the shoot. A couple of the people you will see in the video is the great chorographer Eric Chin (who has worked on a lot of choreography for martial arts films like Kung Fu Panda and Karate Kid) and the legendary Vanessa Bell Calloway.

Part Two of our exclusive interview coming soon!...

Nickelodeon to Honor Justin Timberlake With The Big Help Award at 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards

In recognition of his work as a philanthropist and environmentalist, Nickelodeon will honor actor and musician Justin Timberlake by presenting him with The Big Help Award during Nickelodeon's 2011 Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday, April 2, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/Tape delayed for West Coast). Timberlake will be honored during the star-studded telecast, hosted by Jack Black at USC's Galen Center in Los Angeles. The Big Help Award recognizes individuals who take actions to better the world and whose significant impact on their community has inspired kids to do the same.

Timberlake’s ongoing charitable work led him to a partnership with Shriners Hospitals for Children®, a health care system consisting of 22 Hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs for medical professionals. He has been a dedicated supporter of the organization since 2008 and hosts the annual Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, a PGA TOUR golf tournament featuring a week-long series of events that raises money for their gracious programs and services benefitting children in need.
Justin’s commitment to the environment can be seen at his Mirimichi Golf Course in Millington, TN. Mirimichi is the first golf course in North, South or Central America to receive Golf Environment Organization (GEO) certified status. It is the also the first in the United States to be designated as a Certified Audubon International Classic Sanctuary, making it the only course in the world holding both designations. At Mirimichi, ecologically responsible methods are utilized throughout to enhance water quality and wildlife habitat as well as reduce water and energy consumption.
“Justin’s ability to seamlessly incorporate helping into his life embodies the true spirit of the Big Help,” said Marva Smalls, Executive Vice President, Public Affairs and Chief of Staff, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group. “In true Big Help fashion, he combined his passion for helping kids with his love of golf and through his annual golf open benefit for Shriners Hospitals for Children, came up with a way for people to have fun while helping kids get medical care.”
“I was inspired at a young age by my parents and family to do everything possible to give back to the world around us,” said Timberlake. “And it has become a mission of mine to help kids of all ages understand the importance of getting involved in their communities and local charities and doing their part to preserve the planet. I couldn’t be more thankful to Nickelodeon for their recognition.”

Jennette McCurdy: From iCarly to iCountry

She's Sam Puckett on Nickelodeon's iCarly, but when Jennette McCurdyvisited my kitchen, she was nothing like the smart-mouthed rebel she portrays on the hit TV series.

The Jennette who dropped by to tape CMT's Southern Fried Flicks was a really nice, polite 18-year-old who had fun visiting and enjoying a meal of chicken spaghetti, wonderful sweet potatoes and seven-layer salad -- followed by brownies for dessert.

Jennette has two wishes on her list. Writing songs since she was 7, she wants to be a country music star. Her second and most important wish, though, is for her mother to be pain free. Fifteen years ago, her mom was diagnosed with cancer. The disease had been in remission for years, but she's now battling breast cancer, going through chemo and all that goes with that. Read more>>

Robert Pattinson Needs Helps Getting His Contact Lens In

Robert Pattinson needs two people to put his contact lenses in.
The British actor hates having the lenses put into his eyes to transform his appearance into that of his 'Twilight Saga' character, vampire Edward Cullen, and would love to find a way to "kill" them now his work on the film series is almost complete.
Speaking about the contact lenses, he said: "My God, I'll be glad to see the last of those. I actually want to get some kind of plastic explosive. I want to reanimate them into something so I can kill them.
"It's so embarrassing for me - after so many years, it's still a process every single morning. Everybody else has figured out how to do it, and then there's two people holding me down because I can't do it myself."
Robert, 24, admits he feels like he has been working on the 'Twilight Saga' series of films his "whole life" and the actor - who has been dating Kristen Stewart, his co-star in the franchise, since they met on set in 2008 - is hopeful the interest in his personal life will die down once the final two movies, 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Parts I and II', have been released.
He told the new issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine: "All the gossip stories won't work - they're always combined with 'Twilight', so once that's done and it can't be combined with the promotion of the film, I think it will end."
