The OTTB Exclusive Interview! Meet Logan Miller From Disney XD's "I'm In The Band"

The On The Teen Beat Exclusive Interview Part 1

By Sue Schneider

Logan Miller stars as Tripp Campbell in Disney XD’s “I’m In The Band,” a teenager who joins his favorite vintage rock band, Iron Weasel.  Unfortunately, Iron Weasel has fallen from rock stardom and Tripp is determined to help these rock star misfits make a comeback.

On The Teen Beat  got a chance to visit the set and watch them film. During the lunch break we sat down with Logan Miller in his dressing room, which was decorated with his favorite rock albums and a poster of The Doors to discuss the show and more.

How did you get involved with music? And do you really play?

Logan: I have been playing guitar for about nine years now. It was just something that I wanted to do. I always thought guitar was something cool to do and I would see it on TV and stuff. People with bands I thought that was always interesting, so I kind of just told my parents, hey I’d like to play guitar. I got a crappy little guitar for my birthday one year and just from there began playing and never stopped since.

What are your favorite bands?

Logan: I love a lot of 60’s music, so my favorite band is The Doors, but I like Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane, bands like that. And I also like new age stuff too. Like Ben Folds, Radiohead lots of stuff like that. So I have a wide range of music that I like.
You actually sing, right?

Logan: I’m beginning to sing; I‘m not like professional yet.

So you’re taking voice lessons to like Steve (Valentine) is doing?

Logan: Yes, I’m taking voice lessons right now, so it’s fun.

Can you describe your character in your own words?

Logan: He is someone that is very driven towards what he wants to do. He’s crazy, but he knows what he needs to do to get where he wants to be. He's kind of in control of his situation, to stop and get out of bad situations all the time. He can talk, he knows how to work the room and get the things that he wants.

Have you ever played in front of a live crowd?

Logan: I have. I was in two bands before.

What bands?

Logan: They were just local bands. I had one that was called Lockdown, which was terrible! We kind of sounded like dying animals…I would think that we sounded like. And then there was my other band, which had like five different names…like from El Nino to P-Shiver and all these crazy band names.

Are you from LA?

Logan: No, I’m from Dallas.

So you played in Dallas?

Logan: Yeah in Dallas I played.

In this series you act like you’re the boss of them…or act the adult and they are the kids?

Logan: A little bit. I would think that it’s like kind of the opposite. These adults are the kids and the kid is the adult almost. Trying to get these crazy cartoon like rock stars to do stuff that he wants to do. To try to work towards their goal to become big again.

Shakin' With Jesse McCartney! An Exclusive On The Teen Beat Interview, Pt. 1!

by Anne M. Raso
We caught up with our old pal Jesse McCartney (whom we have known about seven years now) at his recent appearance on the Regis & Kelly Show in New York. (He was in town to promote his new single, "Shake.") Jesse has penned a forthcoming song for teen superstar Justin Bieber and he was not happy when Regis asked him about it on camera because the song was supposed to still be kept secret at that point. Well, the cat is out of the bag and a lot of A&R men at major labels as well as artists are asking Jesse— who is very clever with a hook—to pen hits for them. Jesse should have a new album out at the beginning of the year, so stay tuned right here to for the details!

OTTB: I have to ask basic question about the new CD that is coming out early next year--did you work with the same producers and songwriters!
Jesse: I worked with these new guys called J. Cash and Ammo but I also worked with Sean Garrett, who I worked with on the last album. I worked with Dr. Luke's camp--he won songwriter of the year last year from ASCAP last year and I worked with Kevin Rudolf who produced a couple of songs and you probably know him from his hit featuring Lil Wayne . It was a lot of fun and I found some time to relax in LA while I was recording as well. I also flew out for guitarist Corey's wedding in Israel and spent ten days there, which was great. I also did this independent film called Beware The Gonzo which was really well received at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. Got to go to Italy to promote that movie for a week so I have done quite a bit of traveling lately.

OTTB: Those are excellent places to visit. Now, you wrote almost all of the material for your new album, right?
Jesse: yeah, just about.

OTTB: I heard you discussing that you wrote a song for Justin Bieber when you were  getting interviewed by Regis & Kelly. Can you talk a little about that?
Jesse: I really can't. I was hoping he wouldn't ask me about it. I have been working with artists like Justin and I have been writing a bunch of hits for major artists on the radio and it's awesome, you know? The A&R people from different labels have been calling me up and asking me to write some stuff for their artists. It is really cool--I have been doing this a while and it is really nice to be acknowledged and recognized as a writer.

OTTB: Do you live on both coasts now?
Jesse: I don't. I live in LA full-time pretty much but I grew up here. My father still lives here so I always have a place to stay when I come back. We just went to the Giants game on Sunday; we had a nice day off! y dad and I got to hang out. I hadn't got to see him for a couple of months.

OTTB: That is really nice. Now, you have been in the business a while--since you were very young--do you find that each time you have to put out a new project that it's a challenge to reinvent yourself? Or are you a guy who just goes with the flow?
Jesse:  yes and no. You are always looking to keep things fresh for the fans. With this new record, I feel that I have really found a sound that I am best at as a vocalist...which is more of an R&B rhythmic flair. I grew up listening to that kind of music and I wanted to start making records that represented my tastes in I moved into that sort of lane and I feel more comfortable. It  really feels like I am at home and at peace with the sound. I feel like creatively I have really taken the reigns; with every record you want to push the envelope a little bit more and keep it new and exciting for the fans.

OTTB: I know you had that independent film at Tribeca--do you have any more movies coming up?
Jesse: As of now, no. Nothing is set in stone but there are always a couple of projects on the table. It's hard when you have a dual career to concentrate on more than one thing at a time--this album is definitely taking the front seat and I definitely have to be around to promote it and to really tend to it. It is like having a child! (Laughs.)

OTTB: It is a lot of work--I can tell! (Laughs.)
Jesse and's Anne Raso did this interview in the green room at Regis & Kelly recently.

PART TWO Of Our Exclusive Interview With Mitchel!

A New CD and Show Have Him Livin' Like A King (But Staying Humble)!

by Anne M. Raso

We recently caught up with Mitchel Musso of Hannah Montana, Phineas & Ferb and Pair Of Kings fame at a very exclusive listening party for his fans  at Planet Hollywood Times Square. Judging from the screaming both outside and inside the legendary Hollywood memorabilia-filled eatery, Mitchel's fans are all buzzed about his new CD. He's got his fans' pocketbooks in mind when he decided to offer them eight tracks for only eight bucks—and he is currently working on a set of connected storyline videos to match. It was nice to talk to Mitchel again—this talented cutie is always so upbeat and interesting!

Q: Do you have any other projects I should know about?
Mitchel: Well, we just wrapped up the Phineas & Ferb movie, which is huge, but my album is the biggest thing on my mind right now. As you know, Pair Of kings is only on its fourth episode (that is airing now) and it is an adventure to make each one and gets viewers reactions when I meet them. It is a high action series with mermaids, pirates and it is just crazy. I put my all into it. I have hurt myself doing a few scenes.

Q: What is the first thing that you notice about a girl?
Mitchel: Her eyes and her teeth. (Laughs.) Actually first eyes and then teeth.

Q: Do you have any dating disaster stories?
Mitchel: Sure, but I usually know a girl first for a while before I ask her out. There have not been too many flaws in my dates. I generally have had a good time.
Q: So you have a favorite Halloween costume from the past?
Mitchell: I have never been into costumes—I am more about building a haunted house out of anything you can find including boxes. I am more of a decorator than of a dresser upper. But one year when I was twelve I had full werewolf makeup and costume done by people i new on the set of a movie I did called Monster House.

Q: Do you have a message for our readers?
Mitchel: I just want to do a general shout-out and say do your best in school. Keep progressing and someday you will get to do what you want to do. I know there is a lot of bullying going on right now. Don't let that affect you. If something ever happens physically, make sure someone knows because that's a no no for sure. And other than that, I love all you guys. I have your support and you have my support and if you ever need somebody, come to me.

For Taylor Swift, Are Any Topics Off Limits?

Taylor Swift writes songs about everything that happens to her: the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. So, when she sat down to write her just-released Speak Now, she admits that while some of her experiences were difficult, she used the album as catharsis for the past two years of her event-filled life.

"Those things are not things that I stop myself and don't write songs about, those are things that take a while to figure out how to write," she revealed to MTV News. "I write about everything that intensely affects me. The more intense, the more painful, the more of a shudder it is to think about, the more I know I need to write a song about it to get past it." On The Teen Beat Interview PART TWO....

by Anne M. Raso

The boys of All-Star Weekend are always a blast to talk to and we recently were invited to have lunch with them by their record label and could not make it since we were out of town covering something else. But we got to catch up with them by phone a couple of weeks later and will definitely be reporting more on them. So stayed tuned On the Teen Beat readers! This Hollywood Records "buzz band" is excited about their debut album Suddenly Yours (their debut EP, simply called Suddenly, was released in June). Be sure to check out Cameron Quiseng (bass), Michael Martinez (drums), Zach Porter (lead vocals) and Nathan Darmody (lead guitar) are all very good about mailing fans back who write to them!

Q: So what is the basic update on the group in terms of new single, album release date and tour? Give me the basic rundown, please.
Michael: We are here at Radio Disney today and we are taking over Radio Disney in honor of our new single coming out, "Come Down With Love." The video also went on the Disney Channel and the single went on to iTunes all today. On October 19th, our new album Suddenly Yours, comes out. And we will be playing dates all around...

Q: Are you having special contests that the fans can get involved in?
Michael: Yes, we have a contest going on our official site where fans can send in videos of themselves with "Coming Down With Love" playing. We will be picking the best ones and having meet and greets and giving the winners T-shirts and stuff.
Zach: And we will be giving them all big hugs when we see them!

Q: I know you guys really appreciate your fans but have their been any bizarre run-ins with some that were a little too crazy? Like stowing away on a tour bus?
Cameron: Nothing like that--but sometimes they find out where we are playing and all our hotel room.
Michael: They all seem smart enough to find out where we are staying--and as a matter of fact, there have been many times where we came downstairs to say hi and take pictures and stuff.
Zach: Pretty much every time.

Q: Do you guys ever respond to fans who email you off your site or on Twitter?
Michael: Yeah, we respond all the time--especially to fans who write to us via Facebook or Twitter. We even respond to people who send us messages off of YouTube. We are on there everyday. The ones who give us their phone numbers, we actually call and talk to while we are driving from city to city.

Q: That is very cool. In terms of promoting the album, you have been doing it about six months now?
Michael: Yeah--we do a lot of print and online interviews, but Good Morning America was the first time we were on live TV. The last few months we have just been on the road and even on the one day we had off, we did a show in New Jersey. We played the Starlight Ballroom in Sayreville.

Q: In terms of touring, will you move on to headline status once the album comes out?
Zach: Well, that is actually what we have been doing all along. There was not a really good tour for us to be a support act on, so we decided to headline our own shows. All the shows this past summer with the exception of a couple of dates with Selena Gomez have been headlining shows. They are just really fun shows--we like headlining our own shows. Just for the record, we will be going back out on the road again in November in support of the album, and once again, we are headlining.

Q: Are there any surprise songs in your set?
Zach: Yes, there was that hit "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Bowling For Soup from 1985 that we have been playing since the band was formed. We have been playing that since our first or second show. The fans love it and it is like our favorite song.

Q: Well, I hope to get to hang with you guys and see your show next time you are in New York!
Cameron: We are looking forward to it!
